CHALLENGE: Need to carry a dinghy.
SOLUTION: Custom Ladder Rack
We modified our standard ladder rack to accomodate and support the dinghy.
A third bar was added in the middle of the cap to support the centre of the dinghy and prevent sagging. The integrated tie downs were turned upside down to avoid having them catch on the bottom of the dinghy. This prevents damage to the dinghy, while still allowing them to tie it down securely for transport.
CHALLENGE: Need to carry long items, such as backboards, inside of the cap.
SOLUTION: Front cross box cutout and custom shelf.
The team wanted a cross box on the front of their cap, so we added a cutout between the main compartment and the cross box. This allows them to store long items using the full length of the cap, as requested.
Inside the main compartment is a shelf that supported the long items and seperated them from the contents in the main compartments below.
CHALLENGE: Need flexible storage compartments for varying seasonal storage requirements.
SOLUTION: Simple, smart adjustable storage accessories.
As a Canadian-based unit, weather and seasons are always a challenge. As a result, the equipment the team needs to carry in their truck cap can vary frequently. To accomodate this, we equipped their cap with simple, yet smart storage accessories so that they can easily find, access, and change the items they need while still allowing to them to stay efficient and organized.
Accessories include: Interior LED lighting, pull-out drawers, adjustable shelves, split pull-out beds.
CHALLENGE: Secure surfaces for mounting lights & peripherals.
SOLUTION: Standard 1/8-inch aluminum construction
All of our products – the X-ONE included – are built from 1/8-inch (.125″) thick marine-grade aluminum, which is frequently used in automotive applications due to its excellent resistance to corrosion and high fatigue strength.
The material we use is also at least 2x thicker than any other comparable truck cap on the market. This thicker material not only makes the X-ONE the toughest on the market, but it makes its body and doors excellent surfaces to their mount lights and peripherals on to.
CHALLENGE: Retain tailgate for security (and for lunch)
SOLUTION: Standard X-ONE configuration
The standard X-ONE configuration includes the ability to keep the tailgate on the truck. The Halton Police Marine Unit chose this configuration for their truck, and it was important to them for two reasons:
- The tailgate locks, providing an additional level of locking security to the rear compartment.
- One of the officers routinely uses the tailgate while eating his lunch.
